    Instant Pot Lemon Pepper + Dill Salmon

    I'm a huge fan of salmon, besides being really delicious, salmon is also really healthy for you and a great source of Omega 3's (those healthy fats that help flight heart disease, decrease inflammation, and help with blood pressure). You won't believe just how easy (and tasty!) this recipe is!

    Why Cook Salmon in the Instant Pot

    One word...EASY! (only one pot) o.k. two words it's also QUICK ! With only 3 minutes cook time and a quick pressure release after the cooking cycle, you can have a healthy dinner on the table in about 15 minutes.

    alright...one more word TASTY!  Cooking salmon under pressure with aromatic liquid ( water + fresh dill) ensures the moistest, flakiest, tastiest salmon.

    What type of salmon fillets to use?

    You can use fresh or frozen salmon fillets.  (More about using frozen below)

    You’ll want about 1- 1 ¼ lbs. of salmon for this recipe. Select one large piece of fish or 2-3 smaller fillets. Look for fillets that are about 1-1 ½ inches thick and even in size. If you’re buying one larger filet, ask for a “center cut” so the pieces of fish will be more uniform in thickness (no skinny tail ends).

    Make sure to select fillets with the skin ON. This helps keep the salmon nice and juicy while cooking. You can remove the skin before eating.

    How to cook Instant Pot Salmon {with Lemon Pepper + Dill}

    1. Rub both sides of salmon with olive oil and place salmon skin side down on the trivet that came with the Instant Pot . Sprinkle salmon with salt, pepper, lemon zest, and paprika. Cut the feathery sections of a fresh dill sprig into small pieces and sprinkle about ½- 1 teaspoon over salmon (reserving remaining dill for garnish)
    2. Add ¾ cup water to the Instant Pot. Add 4-5 fresh dill sprigs (reserving one sprig for seasoning/garnish) to the Instant Pot.
    3. Slice a lemon in half. With one half of lemon, slice in thin slices and place on top of the salmon. With the other half, cut into wedges for squeezing lemon juice over salmon after cooking. Use handles to lower trivet with salmon into Instant Pot.
    4. Set release valve to SEALING and set Instant Pot to STEAM for 3 minutes. When steam cycle is complete do a QUICK PRESSURE RELEASE. Carefully lift trivet out of instant pot and transfer salmon to a plate, removing salmon skin.

    Squeeze fresh lemon juice over salmon and serve. Garnish with fresh dill, if desired. ( For Keto version- add a dollop of butter)

    Can you use Frozen Salmon fillets?

    Yes you can! And you don’t even need to thaw them! Just add 2 minutes to the cooking time.

    Place frozen salmon fillet/s on the trivet and sprinkle with salt, pepper, lemon zest, paprika and dill. Place lemon slices on top of salmon. Cook on STEAM setting for 5 minutes.
